How does TENS work?

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a method of pain relief involving the use of a mild electrical current. Small electrical impulses are delivered to the affected area of your body to reduce the pain signals going to the brain, which helps relieve pain and relax muscles. TENS at certain frequencies also stimulates the production of endorphins, which are the body’s natural painkiller.

How do I get started?

Choose the area of your body you wish to treat and apply the electrodes. Attach the electrodes to the wires and then plug into both channels on the device. There are 2 channels, 1 and 2 but it doesn’t matter which one is connected to the leads.
Pick the program you want to use by selecting the P. The Perfect TENS has 8 programs to choose. If you are new to TENS or not sure which program start with Program A. It is the gentlest and will give you an idea of how the device will feel.
Increase the CH1+ and Ch2+ until you feel tingling. You can do both at the same time or one at a time. Push the button for slower increases, hold it down to go higher faster. Once you feel the tingling slowly go up until it is the highest you feel sensation but no pain.
OPEN CIRCUIT CUTOUT If the perfect TENS is not correctly connected to your body, the strength in the channel which is not properly connected will automatically reset to zero. This is to prevent sudden changes if a broken connection is re-made. (Lead wires can break at the bend where they leave the machine giving no, or intermittent, output).

I can’t increase the intensity on my device?

Do you see a KEY symbol on the screen? The device locks for safety so you can’t accidentally increase the stimulation. Simply push one of the Ch- and the key lock will go away. You can then resume increasing your stimulation.

Double check the batteries and replace as needed. Make sure you hold the on button for 3-5 seconds to turn on the device.

Where do I put the electrodes for TENS?

Before applying electrode pads, be sure to wash the skin with warm soapy water to remove any dirt, oil or creams that may be present on the skin. The presence of oils and debris can degrade electrode pads and cause problems with adhesion.
Electrodes are usually first placed where the greatest pain is felt or, on certain acupuncture points nearest to where the pain is felt.
It is best to try different electrode positions until you find the most comfortable, effective position for you.
I can’t feel anything?
I don’t feel any sensation or it feels not strong enough. Increase strength. Most users will feel something at a setting below 20

Electrode Pad Care

The pads which are supplied with TensCare devices are self-adhesive and can be used several times. Skin must be allowed to breathe – therefore the pads should be removed periodically. When not in use, the pads should be placed on the pad holder or returned to the clear plastic shield.
The condition of the pads does affect the conductivity and performance of the device. When the pads initially lose their adhesive quality, it is possible to reactivate their adhesiveness by applying a fine spray of water. Once the pads have finally lost their adhesive quality, replacement electrodes should be purchased.

Are there any reasons I should not use electrotherapy?

You should use TENS under any the following circumstances
• If you have a heart pacemaker or have a heart rhythm problem
• If you have epilepsy
• During the first six months of pregnancy
• When driving or operating machinery
• If you are suffering from acute, feverish or infectious diseases
• Near heart monitors or alarms
• To mask or relieve undiagnosed pain
Do not start treatment until the cause and source of pain or problem has been diagnosed by a medical practitioner. If you are in any doubt about any of these warnings, consult your medical advisor.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused, and in the original saleable condition. Refunds and returns must be initiated within 30 days of purchase.

Breast pumps and TensCare Devices are considered Class II medical devices and are non-returnable unless they are unopened and the safety seal is intact. Each pump and device comes with a two year warranty, if you are having any issues please contact us for troubleshooting and potential replacement.

Refunds and returns must be authorized. If you send back an unauthorized return, the package will be returned to you at your cost. To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase.
