Getting started.

1. This product is a class II medical device from Health Canada and as such is considered a single user device and not returnable. You cannot return your Sport Tens once the seal of the package is broken. Personal, single-use medical products, such as TENS devices, cannot be returned. The warranty for the Sport TENS is valid for two years after purchase. Replacement units will be expedited within the warranty period. If you must return your device, returned devices must be in their original packaging, and the seal must not be broken. Return requests will be accepted within 30 days of purchase.
2. Put the pads on your pain or the muscle group you want to train or rehab. Follow the guidelines in the instruction manual for pad placement. Make sure the pins are plugged in tightly to the machine and the pads.
3. Turn the machine on by pushing the button on the side for a few seconds. Pick your mode by selecting the mode first by pushing the M on the device: TENS for Pain, EMS to build muscle and MIC for microcurrent or IFT.
4. Pick your program by pushing the P button.
5. Adjust the intensity up until you feel some contraction of the muscle or tingling from the TENS. Keep increasing up until you feel the max without feeling pain.
6. Can’t adjust the intensity? Maybe the screen is locked (shows a key icon). Press the down arrow on either channel. The lock comes on after 10 seconds of not pressing buttons to avoid accidental changes.

Troubleshooting:

Keep in mind that you can contact us anytime for troubleshooting or device help. This is a professional grade device that has many features, and we can usually help you find the right settings for your issue. This device is a class II medical device and as such is not returnable once opened. It has a 2-year warranty for defects, but most of the time if it is not working the way you expect it is a setting issue.

I don’t’ feel anything, it’s not strong enough: for IFT and Microcurrent you may not feel the tingling or muscle stimulation depending on the muscle group or program you are using. This does not mean the machine is not working, but that the machine is doing its job as long as the pads are
connected and the machine is running. If you are in TENS and EMS don’t hesitate to keep increasing until you feel a contraction or tingling sensation.
Can I target 2 muscle groups at the same time?
With its dual-channel electrotherapy design, Unipro allows you to target specific areas or treat multiple areas simultaneously, making your rehabilitation sessions more efficient and effective.
I can’t increase the amplitude? If no key is pressed for 30 seconds the keypad auto locks for safety. TO unlock press CH1- or CH2-
Connection Error Icon is showing check the pad connection and position on the body to ensure good pad contact.
The device keeps going back to zero There is a connection error leading to an open-circuit. Ensure the pads are correctly attached to your body and lead wire inserted to both the pads and device. Faulty pads or lead wires. Try using the other lead wire or electrode pads. If problem occurs, it may be necessary to purchase replacements.

How does TENS work?

TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. TENS is recommended throughout the world by pain clinics and physiotherapy departments. Not only does TENS reduce your pain, it can also help you to reduce your need for painkillers. TENS is simply a means of stimulating your body’s own natural defences against pain.
You can use TENS as much, and as often, as you need. Even continuous treatment is fine, but electrodes should be repositioned regularly (at least every 12 hours) to allow the skin to be exposed to air.

How does EMS work?

EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) has successfully been used in medical rehabilitation and to support training in competitive sports for decades.
EMS produces an intensive and effective muscular contraction, generating extraordinary training effects and rapidly enhancing performance. Muscular activity is produced by the central and peripheral nervous systems transmitting electrical stimuli to the muscles of our body. EMS uses external electrical impulses that act through the skin to stimulate the nerves supplying a specific muscle group.
The muscle reacts in different ways depending on the strength of the current, and the duration and frequency of the electrical impulse.

What is the difference between EMS and MIC?

Microcurrent (MIC) stimulation is a type of electrotherapy involving very tiny currents of electricity finely tuned to mimic the body’s normal electrical communication that takes place at the cellular level.
As the body ages, many cellular processes begin to slow down. Microcurrent helps stimulate and re-establish many of the cellular processes that keep the body healthily functioning, such as ATP production, protein synthesis, oxygenation, ion exchange and absorption of nutrients. The improvements in cellular processes, reduced inflammation, and increased production and integrity of collagen help to reduce the signs of aging in the skin’s appearance.
Regular use is important to see and maintain results, the recommended treatment schedule is one session, five days a week. Normally, it will take around six weeks to feel results.
In contrast to EMS, since microcurrent delivers such small currents of electricity, it often will not generate any sensation or only a gentle tingling sensation.

What is Microcurrent?

Microcurrent therapy aids in wound healing and further contributes to pain relief.

What is IFT?

Interferential Stimulation takes pain relief to the next level, offering symptomatic relief for chronic intractable pain, joint pain, and even constipation/bowel dysfunction with its 2 and 4 pole settings. Interferential Therapy or (IFT) is a type of electrotherapy treatments that use electric currents to stimulate tissue which provides pain relief, reduction of swelling and many other health benefits.
IFT uses a range of frequencies which stimulate the body to get positive reactions such as increasing blood supply in an area which increases the healing speed. Unlike TENS, which delivers intermittent pulses to stimulate surface nerves and block the pain signal, IFT machines deliver a continuous stimulation deep into the affected tissue. The stimulation both blocks pain and reduces swelling and inflammation which can cause pain.
IFT achieves the deep penetration by using a 4000Hz carrier wave to overcome the skin impedance.

Where do I place the pads?

Before applying electrode pads, be sure to wash the skin with warm soapy water to remove any dirt, oil or creams that may be present on the skin. The presence of oils and debris can degrade electrode pads and cause problems with adhesion.
Electrodes are usually first placed where the greatest pain is felt or, on certain acupuncture points nearest to where the pain is felt.
It is best to try different electrode positions until you find the most comfortable, effective position for you.
Using the instruction manual, you can locate the most effective points in accordance to your pain condition

Breast pumps and TensCare Devices are considered Class II medical devices and are non-returnable unless they are unopened and the safety seal is intact. Each pump and device comes with a two year warranty, if you are having any issues please contact us for troubleshooting and potential replacement.
