Why Choose Ameda GLO™? A Smarter Wearable Breast Pump Designed With New Parents in Mind
In a market filled with wearable breast pumps, you might wonder what truly sets GLO™ apart? While some may say the Ameda GLO arrived late to the wearable pump space, that timing was intentional. Rather than rushing out a “me too” product, Ameda focused on doing something different—creating a wearable pump that genuinely works, is comfortable and efficient and backed by decades of expertise and innovation.
Built on 80 Years of Breast Pump Experience

Ameda has been a trusted leader in breast pump technology for over 80 years. In fact, the very first breast pump was created by Einer Egnell, Ameda’s founder. That legacy of research, performance standards, and real-world clinical experience lives on in the GLO™ Wearable Breast Pump.
Drawing inspiration from the suction rhythm and effectiveness of multi-user hospital-grade pumps, GLO is the first wearable pump to feature Milk Optimizing Technology™. This advanced system is designed to help moms get more milk—more comfortably.
Designed to Mimic Baby
One of the first differences moms will notice with GLO is its stimulation phase. Unlike pumps that rely on a steady, repetitive “fast suck,” GLO mimics a real baby’s natural nursing rhythm: several fast sucks followed by a brief pause, similar to a baby catching their breath.
With 15 customizable suction levels in stimulation mode, moms can easily find the setting that feels best and helps trigger letdown. After two minutes, GLO automatically switches to expression mode to begin milk extraction. If letdown happens sooner, moms can manually switch modes with the touch of a button.
Milk slowing down? No problem. Simply return to stimulation mode to encourage another letdown, then switch back to expression. This feature provides moms complete control over their pumping session.
Four Modes for Every Pumping Need

GLO offers four unique modes to support moms at every stage:
- Stimulation Mode to trigger letdown
- Expression Mode to efficiently extract milk
- Massage Mode for gentle pumping when breasts are sore, tender, or affected by mastitis
- Automatic Mode for moms who are new to pumping or unsure which settings to choose
The Automatic Mode starts gently at suction level 1 and automatically increases every 15 seconds up to level 12. Once moms find their comfort level, they can lock it in with the + or – buttons. Over time, they can confidently transition to customized stimulation and expression settings.
Massage mode, in particular, offers softer suction and slower speeds, allowing moms to pump hands-free without discomfort even on sensitive days. It’s just one more way GLO truly covers all bases.
Award-Winning Innovation

Ameda is proud that the Ameda GLO™ Wearable Breast Pump received the 2025 Baby Innovation Award for “Breast Pump Technology Innovation of the Year.” This prestigious recognition highlights GLO’s breakthrough design, comfort, and performance, and celebrates its forward-thinking approach to modern baby care.
What Do Real Moms Think?
In 2025, Ameda surveyed pumping moms with established milk supplies who were already using other wearable, portable, or tabletop breast pumps. Each participant used the Ameda GLO exclusively for approximately two weeks before completing an online survey. The results speak for themselves:
- 93% were satisfied with user-friendly buttons and controls
- 97% were satisfied with hands-free operation
- 93% were satisfied with comfort while pumping
- 97% were satisfied with collection cup size
- 97% were satisfied with battery charging time
- 93% said they would choose GLO if shopping for a wearable pump today

The Bottom Line
GLO isn’t just another wearable pump—it’s the result of 80 years of innovation, research, and listening to moms. With hospital-inspired performance, thoughtful features, and award-winning design, GLO empowers moms to pump comfortably, confidently, and effectively—wherever life takes them.
