Why is the dose and delivery of OMEGA 3 so important in pregnancy?
Prenatal Ease Omega-3 DHA/EPA ratio (200 mg DHA + 300 mg EPA per 1000 mg fish oil) was chosen deliberately based on a mix of clinical research, international guidelines, and practical safety considerations.
When developing this product, we looked closely at both global recommendations and published evidence to create a product that is safe and effective, giving the right dose in this critical time in a persons life.

Guideline Evidence
Most expecting moms are already familiar with the benefits of DHA during pregnancy. Many expert bodies recommend that pregnant women consume at least 200 mg DHA daily to support fetal brain and retinal development. Some newer guidelines suggest an overall 250–500 mg combined DHA + EPA intake during pregnancy. Our daily dose (400 mg DHA and 600 mg EPA from two softgels comfortably exceeds these baselines while staying well within the safe range.
Evidence for Total Omega-3s (Not Just DHA)
Most large-scale studies, including Cochrane reviews, examine total omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (EPA + DHA)—not DHA alone. These studies show that increasing maternal omega-3 intake can reduce preterm birth risk, extend gestational length, and improve birth weight. In populations with low background omega-3 intake (which includes much of North America), daily supplementation in the 600–1000 mg range of total EPA + DHA provides meaningful benefits.
Balanced EPA & DHA Ratio
We opted for a balanced 200 mg DHA to 300 mg EPA per capsule to reflect how these two fatty acids complement each other:
- DHA is essential for neural and retinal tissue development, especially in the third trimester.
- EPA supports anti-inflammatory and vascular function, helping improve blood flow and nutrient delivery during pregnancy. It also facilitates DHA transport and absorption into cells. This ratio mirrors the naturally occurring balance found in high-quality marine sources while keeping EPA at a supportive—but not excessive—level.
Triglyceride Form Advantage
Our fish oil uses the natural triglyceride (TG) form, not the ethyl ester (EE) form found in many other products. The TG form is more bioavailable, better absorbed, and easier on digestion, leading to fewer “fishy burp” complaints and higher actual uptake of DHA and EPA. This makes it ideal for pregnant moms who may already have sensitive stomachs.
Practical & Safety Considerations
We designed this formula to deliver clinically relevant omega-3 levels while minimizing side effects. Guidelines support up to 3 g/day of total omega-3 (EPA + DHA) as safe during pregnancy. By maintaining a balanced ratio and moderate dose, we avoid issues like excessive platelet inhibition, fishy aftertaste, and formulation instability that can occur with higher doses.
In short, the goal was to create a potent but practical omega-3 supplement that provides meaningful benefits supported by research, uses the most bioavailable form of fish oil, and remains safe and well-tolerated for daily prenatal use.
